Ram Gopal Varma has had many firsts in his career, and Sarkar Raj is no exception. He says, “Aishwarya Rai’s role in my film has no parallel. She plays a sort of woman never before seen in our cinema.”
What’s more, Ash will go completely make-up free for the first time in her career.
'She shocked me'
Ramu says he’s had the time of his life shooting with the Bachchans, now including Ash. “Frankly, I wondering what Ash was all about since I’ve never worked with her. And considering Sarkar Raj is a dark and realistic film, I was apprehensive whether she would be able to shed her immense glamour,” says the director.
Needless to say, the Bachchan bahu took him by surprise. “Aishwarya shocked me with her performance. Without too many rehearsals and certainly without attending any pre-shoot workshop, she stood up to Amitji and Abhishek in every scene. Audiences will be shocked with her performance,” he says.
Apparently, Ramu is already planning a third installment to the Sarkar saga. “I can’t see the film working without Ash, but to say that the film could’ve worked with Mr Bachchan and Abhishek, but not without Aishwarya, is like saying Godfather could do without Marlon Brando and Al Pacino.”
